Senior Center for
Oasis Senior Center for the Homeless (OASIS) is a vital component of TERRIFIC Inc’s, Ward Two Aging and Disability Resource Center. As a multi-purpose senior center, OASIS provides nutritious congregate meal lunches, Monday through Friday. Participants are involved in vital health promotions, group activities and supportive services, resources and referral linkages to District of Columbia homeless men and women ages 55 and older. Funding for services is provided through the D.C. Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL).
Services Provides at OASIS includes:
Recreational and socialization activities
Nutrition counseling and education
Connection to homeless service providers
Case management services through licensed social workers
Health and occupational education classes
Opportunities to network with peer groups
Lunches that meeting one-third of the Recommended Dietary Allowances
(RDA) requirements for health people

The Asian Pacific Islander Senior Program Center (API): The API Center provides age appropriate, culturally aware programs designed to decrease social isolation among Asian Pacific Islanders who are 60 years old+. API Center encourages and enhances socialization through exciting group interaction, daily group lunch, and diverse cultural, recreational activities that participants enjoy and experience with their peers. Staff provide comprehensive support services, including case management, nutrition assessments, counseling, health promotions, and other services.
DAILY CULTURAL LUNCHES
Monday through Friday, participants enjoy culturally-sensitive hot meals in an inviting community dining setting with their peers. The nutritious lunches meet one-third of the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) requirements for healthy people. The API Center setting is a cheerful, colorful environment that reflects the participants culture and addresses participants health/wellness and social needs.
COMMUNITY SHOPPING AND OUTINGS
The staff at the Asian Pacific Islander Center engage participants in exciting shopping trips for cultural foods and purchasing items of interests in Chinatown. Shopping enables aging participants to continue to feel self-sufficient, socialize with peers, and remain involved in activities that many are no longer able to accomplish alone due to health and mobility problems.
TERRIFIC, Inc. seeks to create affirming, inclusive senior service environments that ensure an understanding of the cultural context of LGBTQIA+ participants’ lives and reflect policies, procedures, behaviors, language that demonstrate inclusivity, LGBTQIA+ and cultural competencies.
